Starting a Minority Government Contracting Company: Resources for Certification

In this block of insight, we are going to talk about “Resources for certification.”

To be eligible for many of the advantages of being a minority business owner, you will want to certify your minority business status officially. According to the MBDA, which we touched on in the previous entry. Certification can radically facilitate your business entrance to government contracts.

Several government agencies at the local, state, or federal level offer certification:

  1. The NMSDC’s (National Minority Supplier Development Council) has 24 regional committees for you to connect with private sector buyers. They can guide you through the standard application procedure.
  2. State agencies offer further information on minority-owned business enterprises (MBEs) and disadvantaged enterprises.
  3. Department of Transportation Disadvantaged Business Certification program provides a vehicle for increasing the involvement by MBEs in state and local procurement.
